Welcome to Holy Saviour Parish!
Greetings! So much is happening at Holy Saviour that exudes energy. Those of you who are parishioners know that the long, slow (painful) refurbishment is just about finished. It has been thirty years since any major changes so we found a few surprises like asbestos which caused delays, but we can soon be proud of our renewed buildings.
Let me tell you of the exciting first dinner that we shall have on September 12. It will be the first major celebration from our new kitchen. You will be able to tell your descendants “I was there”, so contact the parish or look for details of the booking process in the newssheet which you will find every Sunday at Mass or on the parish website.
We have recently had a magnificent celebration for World Environment Day. Our enviro group (E.C.G.) is not the only body thrilled to have the 480,000 litre tanks to give us water! This has been a major development – congratulations to the school and tennis club for their communication and initiative in applying for and receiving grants for this project.
Thirty-two families are busily preparing one or more of their children for First Communion (dates – 16/17 and 23/24 August). Holy Saviour always gives wonderful support to this family-based process.
Our community has been greatly enlivened by 56 visitors from Germany and Malaysia who have come to our suburb for the World Youth Day events. We feel truly enriched by the experience of welcoming these visitors. It is always infectious to experience a crowd of people enjoying themselves.
Our parish school continues to foster a well-earned reputation for high-class education, pastoral care and a genuine desire to nurture the faith of all children and parents who have the privilege of being part of us.
We are a parish that acts. Recently we have held campaigns of writing to and talking with our politicians concerning government representatives to take seriously the “Make Poverty History” campaign.
All of this is part of the good news story that is Holy Saviour – you will want to join us. If you are not a Catholic and feel moved to belong, we have an enjoyable process called R.C.I.A. – give us a ring (9803 3554). We are about to start so don't delay.
